The Mountains
Both Denali and Foraker are in Denali National Park, both approached via the 36 mile long Kahiltna glacier.
Mount Denali (6194m, also known as Mt McKinley) has a larger height gain than Mount Everest and is one of the 'Seven Summits'. We will climb the West Buttress route which is Alaska grade 2.
On Mt Foraker (5303m), we will climb the 7 mile long undulating 'Sultana Ridge'. This route, at Alaskan grade 3, is particularly remote.

10 years ago Emily and Cat headed out to the Chamonix in the French Alps for their first summer trip together and first taste of what alpine climbing is all about. Since then they have climbed and mountaineered all over the world climbing on various peaks in Peru, Africa, Mount Rainier, the Matterhorn, Lotus Flower Tower, the Alps, Pyrenees and Dolomites. After living and training in Chamonix this winter, in May 2009 they will fly out to the Kahiltna Glacier, Alaska and attempt to climb the remote and beautiful Sultana Ridge on Mount Foraker.
